Minister  Michael R. Simms, Sr. is a member of the Ministry Team. As a very young child Min. Simms began his christian education at St. Mark and became a member at the age of 15.
 
He serves the congregation and community in several roles as a leader for St. Mark’s Nurturing ministries, where the focus includes member care, Christian formation, education, and small groups.  His passions for people include Men’s Ministry, Caring Ministry (which connects and engages members who are ill, homebound, or grieving). He also serves as a Certified Lay Minister for the St. Mark congregation, and a liaison with our local church partner, Metropolitan UMC-Severn in their homeless ministry as a community prayer partner.
 
Min. Simms has served as a Local Pastor at the United Methodist District level and a Certified Lay Speaker. He completed studies for Certified Lay Minister in 2009. Min. Simms is on the Patient Family Advisory Board of the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. 
 
One of his favorite scriptures is Galatians 6:9; do not grow weary in well doing. Min. Simms enjoys sharing stories about the “essence” of his faith experiences. He and his wife Wendy have 2 children and 3 grandchildren
