“I feel doing for other people satisfies God and satisfies me as well. When I see the thanksgiving that people express not by their words, but by their expressions, it brings joy. I spend a lot of time working with the Food Bank and The Food Pantry year-round. This is not an easy task especially when there is so much need in the community. I dedicate days in coordinating with organizations to distribute food here at St. Mark. I could not do it without the dedication and commitment of the St. Mark family. “Thank-You.” And to my husband Rickey, who is there at every turn. And who I appreciate and love.
Even though, this job is extremely taxing, and at times I feel that I can’t go on, God shows up and provides me with a new burst of energy and a can-do attitude. That burst of energy and a can-do attitude is greatly attributed to those expressions of gratitude when God’s people receive those food packages. I feel warm all over when the gleam in their eyes and the smiles on their faces speak volumes of appreciativeness. Why I do what I do? I invite you to come and experience it for yourself on the second Tuesday of the month. “For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home…I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!” (Matt 25: 35, 45)
