Two Hands

“You have two hands, one to help yourself, the second to help others.”

I am not much of a writer nor talker in public but with my friends and family it may be a bit different. As a child and growing into adulthood here at St. Mark I mostly observed, analyzed and then chose my actions accordingly. My actions did not get me grounded and being reserved I did not take advantage of all that was offered here at St. Mark. And because of such, my church experiences were not always enjoyed. I could not wait until I got full grown to make my own decisions about attending church.

Well folks I am a full grown women now! I can’t wait to get to church on Sunday mornings. Of course, as a child, I thought like a child. As an adult, I willingly attend and give as God has given me. You see, I observed and analyzed my parents and grandparents. They were always giving and helping others. Looking back they were, we were never without. It was simply what they did. Their generosity did not require much thought, simply a willing heart.

I thank God for the willing spirit and generous heart my parents and grandparents instilled in me. When I think about how Jesus gave his life to save me, I could never give or do enough. Helping those in need gives me a feeling of thankfulness, gratitude and appreciation. I encourage all to give as God has given you.

I am still a little reserved about writing or speaking in public because working behind the scenes is where I am most comfortable. God does not call us to be comfortable. He calls us to be disciples and to share the blessings and gifts that He has bestowed upon us. As I learn to step out, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus; I’ve learned to trust in God; I’ve learned to depend on His every word. I invite you to do the same.

I pray the blessings of God on you and your family as we move through this pandemic wrapped in His grace and love.
